About us

Here we go again! Cardiff Comedy Festival 2016.

A Cardiff July staple since 2009, it has brought you not only the best in local talent but also the likes of Rhod Gilbert, Ardal O' Hanlon, Lucy Porter, Richard Herring, Omid Djalili, Russell Kane, Alan Davies and many, many more to this fair city and its many, many wonderful and varied venues (old and new, permanent and temporary, conventional and just plain weird). And this July (and a wee bit if June too) we promise to bring you more of the same.

Stand up shows, Edinburgh previews, specialist events, established Cardiff nights, comedy theatre, workshops, showcases, summer schools, family friendly events AND the Welsh Unsigned Stand-up Award.

We’re delighted that since Ted Shiress’ appearance last year he has been invited to present his unique comic stylings at the Unlimited Festival at the Southbank in September. Congratulations Ted!

Look out for Festival highlights including events at shiny new host venues The Chapel and Motorpoint Arena’s Exit 7 (Welcome to the fold, brothers and sisters), Hijinx Theatre’s  ‘Meet Fred’ and George Orange's ‘First Lady’ (The Other Room at Porter’s), Carri Munn and Alix in Wundergarten at Chapter, and the culmination of the Welsh Unsigned Stand Up Award at The Glee Club.

So, friends - come along, get involved and laugh until a bit of wee comes out at these great events in our great venues in our great city throughout July.

We are delighted to present a whole host of Comedy across the city in established performing venues, independent bars and even in places where you'd least expect us to be.
